The spherical dome shape used in a Solardome is the nearest to perfection for maximising solar gain and solar transmission for plants inside a glass building.
Maximum Solar Gain
Maximum Solar Gain gives your plants the best possible growing environment because they receive the maximum available transmission of radiant energy. There are always two panes of glass directly at right angles to the sun's solar rays at all times of the day and at all seasons of the year regardless of the angle of the sun in the sky or the orientation of your building.

Cheaper to heat
Solardomes are cheaper to heat because the air volume in the dome above the growing area is much smaller than a conventional greenhouse, it takes substantially less heat to keep it warm in the winter, on average a 40% saving.
Very strong and wind proof
The geodesic shape of the dome makes it the strongest and most robust design to withstand the heaviest wind, or lying snow conditions. The stronger the wind blows the more the Solardome holds to the ground. No Glazed structure is as strong or as stable.
Better ventilation and airflow
The ventilation of the Solardome with the inclusion of the bottom vents means that as the air heats up in the dome, it acts like a chimney allowing excellent air flow even in warm, still weather conditions. We have taken every effort to maximise ventilation to aid plant growth.
Better air distribution
The multi-sided shape does not allow for areas of still or stagnant air (no ridges and corners to harbour germs) and the associated risk of fungus and disease, this also means fumigation and sterilisation can be done much more easily than conventional greenhouses.
More uniform temperature
Because of better air flow inside the dome, the temperature is more uniform than in a conventional shaped greenhouse. No hot and cold spots.
Maintenance free
Best quality materials means no regular maintenance needed. Due to the design, wind damage like cracked and broken panes of glass rarely occurs.
